News » Colleges Back in Business for Apprenticeships
Apprentice | Made in Wales | Team
Friday, 25 June 2021
Apprenticeship schemes have been disrupted through the pandemic, with on-site facilities in colleges closed to students. Despite this, we’ve recently taken on two new apprentices, Dan and Rhys, who join our team in welding and mechanical engineering roles.
Training up the next generation has always been part of our business model, and many of our long-standing members of staff began their careers with us as apprentices. The young people that join our team are able to learn practical skills on the shop floor, working alongside experienced engineers and designers. This is complemented with structured learning one day a week at Coleg Sir Gar. The combination of a college course and paid employment is an attractive proposition for many young people.
Rhys and Dan have proved to be a great addition to our growing team, and now that colleges are open again they’ll be on track, working towards their qualification.
Amcanu is a great choice for me – I wanted to work for a local company that could give me practical support during my Mechanical Engineering course.
