Josh Element joined Amcanu as an apprentice from Coleg Sir Gâr in September 2010 and then went on to be a welder fabricator. His experience on the shop floor, knowledge and willingness to take on new challenges made him a strong candidate when we needed a new production controller.
Managing production and dealing with the challenges each day brings, appeals to Josh: “I really enjoy problem-solving. In my former role I mainly focused on a single thing at a time, now I have to manage and control a team of people who all have their own challenges. I’m forever soaking up advice, whether it’s from the guys on the shop floor or the MD.”
Being able to successfully bridge the gap between the factory and the office – between production and design is a real strength and something that doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Josh excels because he has an excellent rapport with all his colleagues and is able to help everyone plan work and hit deadlines.
He’s enjoying his new role immensely and has even left the factory floor to get a broader feel for Amcanu’s work: “I’ve started visiting clients, which has been a real eye-opener. It’s helped me appreciate the impact of the work we do and put things into perspective … this role has given me the opportunity to meet some really interesting, influential people.”
We’re delighted with all that Josh has brought to business – brilliant communication, mutual respect, efficiency and punctuality – key ingredients to a productive factory and a happy workforce!
