From large pump enclosures to compact generator housings, Amcanu designs and manufactures high-quality industrial enclosures in South Wales – built for performance at every scale.
Last week, two very different products left our factory in Burry Port.
One – impossible to miss – a large, portable pump enclosure for Godwin (a Xylem brand), comparable in size to a 20ft container! Watching it being carefully lifted into place, ready for life in the field, is always a proud moment for the team.
The other – far more understated – a compact stainless steel generator housing, destined to be mounted neatly onto the side of a Severn Trent tanker. Smaller, quieter… but no less important to our customer.
Two very different enclosures. Two very different applications. And yet, they represent exactly the same thing.
Amcanu designs and manufactures industrial enclosures for pumps, generators, battery storage systems… for a wide range of sectors – from utilities and water, to construction, rental and energy.
What many people don’t always see is the sheer range of scale we work across.
Some of our enclosures are large, complex structures designed to house industrial pumps or generators operating in demanding environments. These require careful consideration of lifting points, structural loads, transport constraints, long-term durability in the field…
Others are compact, precision-built housings where space is tight, tolerances matter, and every millimetre counts.
But whether it’s something you can walk into, or something you can lift by hand, our design and manufacturing principles remain the same.
We’ve always believed that quality shouldn’t vary with size. The same care that goes into a large enclosure – the structural design, the finish, the panel alignment, the way doors close – goes into every smaller unit that leaves our factory.
Both will be installed in real-world environments. Both will be expected to perform, day in, day out. And everything we make embodies the Amcanu brand.
That’s why we work to consistent, recognised quality standards, and why our team takes such pride in the detail – whether they’re fabricating large structural components or finishing a compact stainless steel housing.
One of the advantages of working across such a wide range of enclosure sizes is that nothing exists in isolation.
Techniques developed on large-scale fabrications – whether it’s improving structural strength, simplifying assembly, or increasing throughput – often find their way into smaller build projects.
At the same time, the precision required in compact enclosures sharpens our attention to detail across everything we do.
It’s a constant cycle of learning, refinement, improvement…
Every project informs the next. Every improvement benefits the whole.
Both of last week’s enclosures are heading into demanding environments.
The large pump enclosure will operate in the kinds of conditions you’d expect in construction and rental – where equipment needs to be robust, reliable, and able to withstand constant handling.
The smaller generator housing will form part of a working vehicle, exposed to the realities of day-to-day utility operations.
Very different contexts – but the same expectation: they have to perform, and they have to last.
That’s always front-of-mind when we design and manufacture our enclosures.
There’s something undeniably satisfying about seeing a large enclosure being lifted onto the back of a lorry – it’s a visible reminder of the scale of what we do.
But there’s just as much pride in the smaller builds. The ones that might not turn heads, but demand just as much thought, care and precision.
