SMEs, typically defined as those with fewer than 250 employees, play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s manufacturing landscape and are an essential part of the country’s economic fabric.
This National Manufacturing Day here are a few reasons why we’re proud to be small yet perfectly formed!
We love the fact we can respond quickly to customers and the market. We’re renowned for our agility and capacity to innovate! Unlike larger counterparts, we’ve always been able to adapt swiftly to changing market demands, introducing new products and technologies with relative ease.
Small manufacturers like Amcanu are vital engines of job creation in the UK. We offer employment opportunities to a large chunk of our local community and have done for decades. We’re especially keen to help coach future talent, and have had many excellent apprentices over the years, who often stay with us as their career progresses.
Our products are specialised and we’ve carved out a niche for high-quality sound attenuated industrial enclosures and technology cabinets. More recently we’ve been building knowledge and expertise around energy storage units, putting Amcanu at the forefront of the new wave of green energy.
The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of resilient supply chains. We were able to provide a more reliable and adaptable supply chain than many distant global suppliers. Being able to pivot quickly and meet UK demand helped to reduce supply chain disruptions for our customers and strengthen their resilience against global shocks.
We’re a family-run business with a deep connection to the local community. We’ve worked hard to recruit people whose values reflect our own, this means we have a similar outlook on life and what matters. We’re proud of the fact that we’ve now got five different family units under our roof!
